The Community Advisory Committee was formed concurrently with the Violence Intervention Prevention Program (VIP) in 2003 to serve as a resource network for VIP and participating youth-serving agencies and initiatives.

The mission of the Community Advisory Committee is to recommend short and long term courses of action that will enhance the quality of life for all City residents; to promote positive youth development, sustain family preservation, and build safe neighborhoods; as well as to address existing racial, social, and economic disparities and inequities.

The vision of the Community Advisory Committee is to create a climate that addresses the quality of life for the City of Syracuse communities and develops safe and healthy neighborhoods.

The Community Advisory Committee welcomes participation of neighborhood residents and associations, parents and youth, human service agencies, business, and government.
